Meredith Salenger
Salenger was born in Malibu. Salenger loved performing in front of her friends and family when she was a child. At the age of eight years old, her mother brought her to her first class in acting. The John Huston directed film Annie the actress played a tiny role where she was described as an "singing and dancing orphan". Salenger was also featured in a few television commercials. Salenger played her first lead part as a lead actress in The Journey of Natty Gann which was the Disney movie starring John Cusack with Ray Wise. It was the very first US film to receive the Gold Award at the Moscow Film Festival. Salenger was also named "Best Actress in Drama" at the Youth in Film Awards, for portraying the tomboyish Natty. In the following four films before she was just 18 such as A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon and A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon, she quit Hollywood for Harvard to continue her education.
